Rotary Club of Haskell Empowers Students with Dictionaries

Since 2008, the Rotary Club of Haskell, Texas has proudly partnered with The Dictionary Project to deliver personal dictionaries to every third grade student at Haskell Elementary School. This long-standing tradition has helped hundreds of local students develop strong literacy skills and a love for learning. Each fall, Rotarians personally visit the school to distribute the books and show students how to use their new reference tools. The dictionaries go beyond simple word definitions, they include facts about U.S. presidents, world geography, measurements, sign language charts, and even the longest word in the English language. Providing third graders with dictionaries supports vocabulary growth, academic achievement, and independent study habits. For many students, it’s the first book they can call their own, a simple but powerful gift that boosts confidence and curiosity. Through the continued support of its members, the Rotary Club of Haskell is creating lasting impact in its community.
