Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh Donates Dictionaries to Third Graders
Since 2006, the Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh has partnered with The Dictionary Project, distributing more than 3,000 dictionaries to local third-grade students across Michigan.
In their latest initiative, the club delivered dictionaries to every third grader at Herrick Park Elementary and Patterson ILC, helping students build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and cultivate a love of reading.
Led by Ron Publinski and supported by volunteers Tracy Hedrick and Mary Tommelein, the distribution included interactive lessons on how to use a dictionary, showing students that learning extends beyond the classroom.
“This is just the beginning,” said Publinski. “Our mission is to nurture a passion for learning, and these dictionaries are essential tools for growth.”
This ongoing project exemplifies how civic groups can spark educational progress and long-term impact—one dictionary at a time.
