Milford Elks Lodge Empowers Third Graders with Dictionary Donations

In Milford, Delaware, the Milford Elks Lodge #2401 has joined The Dictionary Project to help strengthen literacy in their community. Since starting the initiative last year, Elks members have presented dictionaries to all third grade students in Milford area schools. Joanne Milton, exalted ruler of the lodge, emphasized the project’s purpose:
“By promoting literacy and investing in our youth’s education through a simple gift of a dictionary, children know that the Elks believe in them and are providing them with one of the essential tools they need to strive and succeed.”
This donation aligns with The Dictionary Project’s mission to ensure that every student is equipped with a personal dictionary—a foundational learning tool that fosters curiosity, independence, and confidence. Through this effort, the Milford Elks are not just giving books—they’re investing in brighter futures.
