Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning Donates Dictionaries to Local Third Graders
For over two decades, the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning has upheld a powerful local tradition—giving every third grader in the Carpinteria School District in California their very own dictionary.
Through its partnership with The Dictionary Project since 2004, the club has distributed more than 6,500 dictionaries to students. Each year, English-language dictionaries are handed out, and bilingual students or those in Spanish immersion programs receive a Spanish-English edition to support their learning.
Funds for the project are raised through creative community efforts, including an e-bike raffle and calendar sales, making this a true collaboration between the Rotary Club and the community it serves.
Thanks to the club’s continued support, students not only enhance their reading and writing skills but also build confidence in their language abilities—empowering the next generation through literacy.
