Rotary Club of Johnstown Milliken Brings the Gift of Words to Students in Colorado

Since 2006, the Rotary Club of Johnstown Milliken in Colorado has proudly participated in The Dictionary Project, delivering personal dictionaries to third-grade students in Weld County School District. Over the years, the club has provided more than 4,630 dictionaries, giving young learners an essential tool to expand their vocabulary and knowledge.

Club member Brad Cranwell shared:

“I love dictionary delivery day. It’s my chance to tell the children how important they are to us and to encourage them to give back to our communities. The kids are so excited to get the books and so appreciative.”

Beyond the Dictionary Project, the Rotary Club hosts a Character Banquet each year — their main fundraiser. Local businesses and individuals sponsor the event, where students nominated for their outstanding character are honored. Additionally, club members contribute $1 at each meeting and collect aluminum cans for recycling to support their projects.

Through these efforts, the Rotary Club of Johnstown Milliken continues to inspire young minds, foster community spirit, and champion literacy — one dictionary at a time.
