Rotary Club of Highland Empowers Young Learners with Dictionaries

Third grade students across public and private schools in Highland, Indiana recently received a valuable gift — their very own personal dictionary, thanks to the Rotary Club of Highland.

Since launching their partnership with The Dictionary Project in 2009, the club has donated more than 3,700 dictionaries to area students. This initiative supports early literacy and equips children with tools to improve vocabulary, reading comprehension, and independent learning.

These books are packed with more than just word definitions — students explore U.S. presidents, state facts, the Constitution, the periodic table, and more. It’s a resource they can rely on throughout their academic journey.

The Highland Rotary Club continues to demonstrate its commitment to education and community development, giving students the confidence to become strong readers and lifelong learners.
