Rotary Club of Pearlridge Spreads Literacy and Character in Hawaii Schools
The Rotary Club of Pearlridge is making a big impact on third graders in Aiea and Pearl City, Hawaii, by donating personal dictionaries to students and teachers at 14 local schools. Each dictionary includes a copy of Rotary’s Four Way Test, a set of guiding ethical principles. At the end of the school year, the club will recognize two students from each school who best embody those values with a certificate and a $50 check. Club member Barry Villamil shared,“It’s such a wonderful feeling with each visit to the third graders’ classrooms to see their excitement and smiles as each dictionary is personally presented to them by a truly grateful and proud RCOP member.”To learn more or support this initiative, visit the Rotary Club of Pearlridge website. Since launching its partnership with The Dictionary Project, the Rotary Club of Pearlridge has paired literacy with leadership—planting seeds for lifelong learning across Hawaii’s classrooms.
