Kiwanis Club of Cedartown Brings Dictionaries to Local Third Graders

Since 2018, the Kiwanis Club of Cedartown, Georgia has partnered with The Dictionary Project to provide every third-grade student in the city’s four elementary schools with a personal dictionary. This year, members of the club continued the tradition by personally delivering the books to classrooms filled with excited students.

The initiative, funded by the club’s annual Vidalia Onion sale and Renaissance Tennis Tournament, has helped nearly 1,300 students develop literacy skills and independent learning habits.

Each dictionary supports the Kiwanis mission of empowering youth through education, while also encouraging curiosity and lifelong learning. These tools help students explore language beyond the classroom, and many teachers report that the books are used regularly for lessons and projects.

By investing in literacy early, the Cedartown Kiwanis Club is building stronger educational foundations and supporting student success across the community.
