Mercedes Lions Club Promotes Literacy with Bilingual Dictionaries for Students

The Mercedes Lions Club of Texas continues its commitment to student literacy by providing every third-grade student in the Mercedes Independent School District with a personal dictionary. Since beginning the project in 2016 through a partnership with The Dictionary Project, the club has gifted more than 3,000 dictionaries to local students.

This year, the project expanded to include Spanish-English bilingual dictionaries, ensuring students from diverse backgrounds have tools to strengthen their vocabulary in both languages.

By supporting literacy through this initiative, the Mercedes Lions Club is empowering students with essential learning resources that foster reading skills, academic confidence, and lifelong educational success.
